Need some quick, help. I'm getting ready to go on a long drive, and found something leaking. In the engine bay, up very close to the firewall on the passenger side of the car, almost to the side of the car, there is a metal oil type line that has a flare nut on it, and it transitions to a black hard plastic hose that has a rubber sleeve over the top of it . This also has an wired connection hooking to it. well that is leaking what seems to be oil, from a couple very small slits or cracks just past the metal end..

What is this and what does it do..

thanks mike..

From the description, most likely the power steering pump tubing going to the pressure sensor.

I just purchased a 02 maxima for my son and we have only had it 2 days and the engin light is on already. should I take the car back or just have them fix it because this seems to be very serious to me?

Welcome to NICO.

You should have started a new thread instead of replying to unrelated post.

Did you get any warranty from the dealer/seller? If not, then you are out of luck. Better have a free scan from Autozone and the likes and get a printout of the trouble code(s). Then report back so we can help you.

So my assumption was correct. How much did it cost?

Well $287, but that was with a 15% off service discount coupon, and also, i think the may have slightly messed up on the labor charge.. but i don't feel too guilty because the dealership took a short cut, and didn't take the bracket/bolt off the engine block which is one of the time consuming parts, reaching it. theycut the existing one and put a bolt through it and attached the new one to it. This is part of the main reason I decided not to mess with it myself was the difficulty of getting to that bolt. oh well.. done now
