can i use this to remove headgasket?

im trying to clean the block and prep it for a new headgasket (felpro). I bought this from pep boys to hopefully clean the block but i want to make sure it's safe. its a 2" drill mounted polishing disc. any input?

Hard plastic jobber like scothbrite on crack? Those are fine. I use a scraper myself but you have to keep the angle very low an be careful not to gauge the head or block surfaces.

i use those all day. just be careful not to digg in so much it will make your block uneven.

I wouldnt youse the fiber roloc disc. There has been talk about how those can come off and cause bearing failures. Id use one of these:



Use a razor blade to get the majority off. then hit it with that to get the micro finish for the gasket to seat nicely. Dont forget to check evertyhign for flatness!

I have Milla Jovavich hold the cylinder head against her chest to check for flatness. Accuracy is important.

ha! awesome. how accurate is it? just eyeballing it i would guess somewhere in the .001in range.

Hell YEAH!!!! Ca section forever!!

Watch those edges, those things can get away from you pretty quick if you aren't careful.
