So I need to replace my radiator. I've got a '93 with an auto trans. Someone has this rad for sale locally and I'm thinking about getting it. The only problem is that I thought the rads for the auto trans were different than for the manual. Something to do with two hoses coming from the bottom to cool the transmission or something? But when I check their web site it doesn't mention anything about their being two different types so once again, I'm looking to you all for answers. Thanks again in advance... Here's a pic of the rad in question.

The output points are opposite on the S13. The stock radiator has the upper radiator hose on the passenger side of the car. The one pictured has the hose pointing at the driver. You'd have to get new hoses and route them further..

that one would be better suited for an SR20det. as mentioned, the ka24 and the ca18 use an OEM style radiator with both outlets on the USDM pass. side of the car. As mentioned, it would be a pain to reroute the upper line. Better off just getting the right one for your motor. if you are planning to swap to sr in the future, it might make it more worthwhile to get it and rig up a line for now, but otherwise I'd skip it. The automatic cars do have a transmission cooler that runs through the bottom of the radiator. If you are considering upgrading your cooling system with the radiator pictured, you may want to consider adding a transmission cooler. An external cooler is a good idea anyway to keep fluid temperatures down if you are using/abusing your car (which i assume you are if you are adding a big radiator like that). Summit racing or autozone both have a decent selection of ones that will work just fine. If you are biding your time until you swap and you don't care if you shorten the auto transmission's life you can loop the lines back to each other and it will work fine, you'll just have higher fluid temps and shorter transmission life.

Or you could just fine a nice used automatic 240sx radiator and avoid all of the problems for a bolt in replacement. up to you.

Thanks for all the help guys. I guess I'll just hit my local junkyard. Will the rad from any s13 or s14 work as a drop-in replacement as long as it's from an automatic?

Any S13 AT rad will work, be the same. S14 rad will fit, not sure if the hookup locations for the transmission cooler part are the same or not though. I would say that it would work. S14 rad is a little thicker and the output for the overflow resivior is on the opposite side, but not a big issue.

s14's bottom mounts are a little different too it doesnt fit quite the same. I tried it once. Your best bet is to stick with an S13 automatic and if possible try to pick one that still has green fluid in it.
