you guys say that an ecu for a ka is only good for 7psi? ive got a stock dsm turbo layn around and its good for like 16 lbs of boost which is too much for the ka. how do i make this work? can i get rid of the wastegate and run an external wastegate and set it to open at a lower psi, or can i leave it on their and use a boost controller set at the appropriate level? i was savn money for the sr but ive got another ka that i just pulled from a wrecked s13 and boostn it is startn to sound fun. i could swear that i saw a pic of a boosted ka and their was the mitsu diamonds on it and wondered wtf? someone please give me some advice, or straightn me out here . thanks

what do you mean ecu for ka only good for 7psi? you can boost pretty high w/ stock internal ka. there are members on here pushing over 400+whp w/ stock internals, thats around 20 something psi. but of course you gotta have a good ecu tune, doesnt mean you have to go fullstand alone inorder to achieve this kind of goal.

please read the stickies, you will learn a lot from it. if you are confused somehow after reading the stickies then ask.

ya i did alot of reading last night and i guess im a bit confused. so the stock internals on the ka are good for some decent numbers. i guess what i mean as far as the ecu is that its for n/a so do i have to have it tuned to run boost if im only looking for a modest amount of power 220 or so. and at what point should i replace the stock injectors? would they be ok for the 220hp?

maybe with an fmu and walbro, its only good for 7psi, then timing needs to be looked into.all these questions have multiple answers, that have been answered.

how to say this

It appears you dont have too much boosting non stock turbo'd engine experience, so go in the stickies and read, then re read. Not trying to be rude in any way, just dont want to see a omfg11elleven post abou yo motor

i HIGHLY suggest you dont cheap out and get some form of a tune, bigger injectors, and some form of extra fuel delievery.

to lower your boost, yes, you have to use an external wastegate. boost controllers usually only increase your boost if your wastegate cant hit a higher boost mark thatn ur stock gate is set at.

but yea, your turbo will work, as long as it will bolt onto the manifold youre using. and a tune will help you get the most out of your turbo setup and injectors.

that is a helpful read, but seriously search next time. read all the stickies...

ya ive only messed with dsm and just recently was exposed to the f'n greatness of the 240 platform, so no i dont have much experience turbocharching a n/a motor. and last night i read the boostn on a budget thread and it made me feel like an idiot for askn some of the questions that i asked but i gained a much better understanding of how to set up a ka-t. this forum is great, i swear i feel smarter everytime i get on here and not to mention everybodys been real cool for not rippn me a new one, so thanks
