The black plastic guard thing underneath the front of the car, can I take that damn thing off? The other night when I hit that dip it scaped it up somewhat toward the back of it and now it dangles just alittle bit. I would like just to cut it alittle but if I can just take the thing off it would be much better. it doesn't really guard anything, does it? lol I know this is a dumb*** question but humor me

do you think nissan put something like that there for absolutely no reason? it's an engine guard. prevents crud from flying up and either lodging onto your motor or damaging sensitive things like..well sensors. think of all the road water that'll fly up on your motor without it. also it helps with the reduction of the coefficient of drag. chances are some bolts got ripped off. real easy fix. buy some of those white plastic tie strip things and fix it up.

Alright thanks for the advice. I knew it was a guard but sometimes a company will just throw them on and they won't really guard anything *Like on my shadow the guard wasn't even big enough to keep stuff from flying up*

smack me for doubting Nissan lol

Yeah i took mine off because it was hanging in shreds. pretty much a waste to keep that mangled piecer on there. BUT they do serve a purpose and work well. If your's is still intact but just a little off, i agree with mayhem, zip ties work wonders! I'm gonna buy a new one when my sr gets here next month...i could care less about my ka right now lol.

a particular sensitive item to crud and water would be your alternator... removing the guard will at some point kill your alternator at the very least :)

try turning your altenator upside down and spill some on it. that's the same direction the water will be coming from.
