I olay need an ignition switch for my car, and I was wondering if I could take one out of an 89 and then use it in my 92 with super hicas? this should be my last engine question for some time now, I hope so anyways.

you mean the where you cram in the key? Yes they'll swap over. The rest of the main parts of the ignition system on the SOHC and DOHC are different.

no, not that part, the actual Ignition Switch, mine's faulty and I need to replace it, the only cars at junkyards are 89's and 90's, there's one place, but they want like $200 or more for the part, and all of the other DOHC 240's are minty and being driven. So I kinda hafta see if this can work.

BTW, when I called about an engine, there were only 3 KA24DE's at auto recycler's in Canada, One in NewFoundLand, one in Winnipeg, and one in Alberta, So I bought the one in Winnipeg, but I was astounded by the very few of these engines around.

So, ya parts aren't easy to find out here.

Fully interchangeable - no connectiions to HICAS; likewise, there are no differences between auto and manual ignition switches. The differences are beyond the ignition switch, in the wiring downstream, including differences in US and Canadian requirements for safety interlocks (clutch interlock required in US, not in Canada in 89 -94).
