Just bought a '06 M35X and it has Sirius installed. I'm used to XM, all my family has XM (so I get good discounts when I add a radio) and I wanted to find out what is involved in switching my radio module for XM?

Yes you can, order the receiver you want from everythinginfiniti.com, replace the module in the trunk with the one you want; I'm not 100% sure about the antenna connection, but everything else should be fine;

With the recent merger, the company should be consildated soon. I would save my money and just wait until 1 receiver handles both services.

Considering that Infiniti makes the receiver for this car (not the XM/SR povidier), its not likely they will manufacture something for the 2006 when they come out we new receivers next year; Early reports say they will allow OEM units get both/either programming source (to save the car guys money) - however this is nowhere near a confirmed report, just a logical progression of thought from a few people...

I have been getting a lot of big software dowloads on my Sirrius latelty. I was hoping that this may be something to make it compatible with XM programming. I havent heard any official news.

now there's an idea. The guys at Infiniti said I would have to swap out the antenna also. I'm looking into the details.

I got conflicting reports on the swap out - one said swap out the module and you're good to go, another said you have to change the antenna. Still working on the solution.

I heard that as long as it's a 2006 XM tuner to a 2006 Sirius tuner, then it's just swaping outhe tuner in the trunk.

only the 06 to the 06.

I purchased the car prowned, and the XM was already activated.

I'm waiting for the activation to expire, but I guess you'd be getting free service for the few months remaining.

Lately I lose the signal while driving, the radio displays "acquiring" sometimes for 5 minutes usually between 4 and 5 AM in my G35My Sportster receiver also takes longer now to give me a signal after first powered up and turned on.

They are definitely doing something?

I have recently read that new radio's will be available for the holiday season. There is also talk of giving expired vehicle receivers a few free channels as an inducement.

Found it!

Hi All, I just purchased a 2007 G35x, and it looks like Sirius is already installed. Is there any way to switch to XM in this model, as I already have XM and don't want to switch.

I just swapped the XM tuner in my 2006 M45 for Sirius. It was easy. It works perfectly. You don't need to change the antenna, bracket or splitter.

Drop the top trunk liner, remove the four screws securing the XM tuner to the bracket. Unplug the BUS and antenna connections. Connect the same BUS and the yellow lead from the XM antenna splitter to your Sirius tuner (the second lead from the splitter is not needed for anything although both were connected on the XM unit). Secure the Sirius tuner to the bracket with one screw. Reattach the trunk liner again with the plastic retainers. You're done.

I ordered Sirius tuner 999U9-AS004 which is what I needed according to the Infiniti parts sites. But 999U9-AS006 arrived instead. I thought they made a mistake but it turns out that 999U9-AS006 supercedes and replaces the earlier 999U9-AS004 unit. This might be the reason why the earlier posters found it a hard job to make the change. Maybe the older Sirius tuner didn't have the same connections as the XM. Or it wouldn't work with the same antenna.

I bought Sirius tuner 999U9-AS006 from infinitipartsmall.com for $172.00

I don't know if the change from Sirius to XM would be as easy. Because the car would likely have the older Sirius tuner which might have different connections.
