Folks,

I've had my 2006 M for over three years now and my lease is almost up.

I've always been a fan of Sirius and after having it for three years and hearing the miserable music selection on XM in my girlfriend's Chevy product, I've decided that the luxury of quality music is as important as the vehicle itself.

I won't be able to settle for XM. For our tastes, their programming is absolute garbage.

When I heard that Infiniti deleted Sirius as an option, I about went through the roof. Why would they standardize on the Wal-Mart of satellite radio programming when their upscale competition is pro-Sirius (with the odd exception of the Lexus LS, which is XM-only).

Is it possible to buy the Sirius kit from the 2006-2007 model year and replace the tuner and antenna assembly in the 2009's to bring Sirius back to this otherwise perfect car?

Or am I going to have to go German this time around?

I refuse to have dangling cables and crap stuck on my dashboard. It's either going to be a clean install or no more Nismo.

Hello,Welcome to NICO.With the XM/Sirius merger getting FCC approval, this should soon be an non issue. I do not think you can switch modules such that in MY (model year) 2008, the Navigation system switched to a hard drive based system. This might only be applicable to Nav equipped models. Not entirely sure.

I have both services. I have Sirius integrated into my Home Theater for listening to NFL games with both home and away audio feeds. I do like the music better as well. My car came with XM including a lifetime subscription. With this being the case, I could not justify switching to Sirius even though I greatly prefer it.Cheers,ML

Mark,

Thanks for the reply.

Everyone says similar things about the merger. However, I don't see XM taking Sirius' programming or offering a choice any time soon. According to the merger details, they are supposedly keeping each service operating for at least 10-15 years if I recall correctly. Now I know that doesn't mean they will keep the same programming for that time, but I can't imagine XM wiping the slate and broadcasting Sirius any time soon.

XM has an install base of people who prefer their programming over Sirius (for some crazy reason) so they have no reason to change.

I think us Sirius people are screwed.

I am going to look at the Jaguar XF and XK today...

Hello,DeaconBoogie, I recently drove a XF and came away quite impressed. I really do not like the transmission selector pop up circle doodad. Love the interior and the smell of the leather. Nice woodwork as well. I really like the supercharged V8 as well. I do think the running costs will be higher. Price of admission too.

Again, I too am a big fan of Sirius. I am not sure if I am so true blue that I would only purchase a Sirius equipped vehicle. The Genesis comes equipped with Sirius... As for myself, I really do not think I will ever own a Korean car. The Tau V8 available in the Genesis looks impressive. Probably the last 100 million Dollar plus V8 ever developed. Especially considering GM abandoned the successor to the Northstar a good deal down the road of development.Cheers,ML
