Can I run a Dawes Device and a adjustable actuator?

Hi,

Have had both installed on my car and when I did a RR, the guy told me my boost was coming in, in steps i.e. 5, 10 and 15psi, and that if I got this sorted it would make the car more responsive!

A few people have suggested that the actuator and dawes are working against each other, what do you reckon?

perhaps there is a bit of a language difference here, but what do you mean by "RR" and a "Dawes Device"? Is that some sort of electronic boost controller? sorry if thats a stupid question, but I've never heard of either term:pface

well I am glad I am not alone on that. I think the RR means Remove and Replace. But the dawes device and what the adjustable actuator adjusts I am lost on.

Hi,

RR is a Dyno.

Dawes device is a boost controller, that is a ball bearing with the boost contolled by a spring that you tighten and looseno contorl the boost!

I guess I need a definition of "adjustable actuator". To me the actuator is the vacuum-actuated mechanism that opens the wastegate which is controlled by your manual boost controller(dawes device).

This actuator has a thread on the rod, if you turn raises or lowers the boost!

Then no, I don't see how it would cause your boost issue. The actuator gets set, the MBC gets set and the boost level is a result of the two.

Maybe the actuator is designed to only increase in increments. Maybe it's got a stepped cam type deal in it or something. I can't think of a reason anyone would want something like this though.

Hmm.
