Is there a way to remove the J30 rear seats from inside the car? My power remote trunk popper was stuck so I removed it, but forgot to attach the connection bar to the key lock. When I was walking away I instinctively slammed the trunk shut and now have no way to open it.

I've replaced my rear speakers before so I know that the gas tank is between the rear seat and the trunk. But I think there should be enough room for me to get a stick to work the trunk release if I can get the rear seat off.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated?

Yes there are 2 bolts that hold the bottom part of the seat in, and 4 screws that hold the back section. Then you just slide the back upwards off these slides. Very simple.

Then you have the "firewall" which there is about 16 nuts to remove, pain in the ***. But even then you got the gas tank in the way.

I think to get to waht you want, it would be better to remove the wall section in the trunk, because I believe the remote trunk opener in somewhere in the middle between there.

Ahh, I see. Well the key should solve that simple problem.

trunk release?? are u referring to a latch inside the trunk that will allow it to be opened from the inside?? my '95 j30 doesnt have one of those. best thing i could think of, if u can, get a really really long screw driver, and once u got the back panel from the backseat removed, try to manuever around and where the latch connects with the trunk lid, just unscrew that all the way. with that accomplished, u should be able to just pull the trunk lid up from the outside. then again, im not 100% sure on this. i know theres screws to adjust where the claw thingie for the trunk is at. but im not sure if those screws are actually responsible for holding the lock in place.

u really worked urself into a pickle. hopefully u can figure a way to get ur trunk open.

Actually the latch does have a thing to open the trunk.

Its not as obvious as newer cars where you just pull a thing, its simply s button on the locking machenism.

I imagine you would have to remove the gas tank and all that . Hell of a job, good luck man.

I looked on a J30 impossible to get the gas tank out even if you are smaller than a midget,

Saw the ushaped [hanging from trunk lid] latch off, slide blade in and up between trunk and rubber seal......OR.......break out the rear center plastic and cut hole in sheet metal.
