I heard and read about swaping an LSD from a 300zx non turbo to a 240sx,is this really true or just a waste of time? Im really down on money right now and trying to do what i can and there a junkyard close by thats having half off sale wich means if this is true i can get the LSD for $50 instead of $100.Post something up if you have done this or know of it and tell me what you think.Good idea or bad idea???

very good idea..i have done several..very cheap way to get lsd...first of all for the z dif. you will also need axles...the 300z uses a 5 bolt splayed output shaft..the same as a pre 95 j30...so expect to spend another 50-100 for the junkyard axles...if you take the rear end out make sure you keep the fron mounting bolts because you will need them...swap is simple...unbolt yours...swap your rear cover ont othe z rear end...remove abs sensors by the output shaft from the z..throw sensors away..install new axles then diff..make sure you use the longer bolts and bushings for the front ears of the z rear end...thats it..here is a link that tells you more deatils of the install and pros of the swap......http://www.ka24development.com/vlsd.html

also i see you are new here so welcome and the blinking red button in the upper corner is your very good friend...if you start asking alot of questions that have been covered 3 times a week for the last 4 years people can get very violent with you..if you have any problems with the install..email [email protected] might look into doing the 5 lug swap at the same time since most of the parts will be loose at the same time..depends on your fundage

make sure you have help because the rear diff is very heavy...esp to swap in the backyard...other than that it would be a good idea to change the rear end oil while the cover is off.....also you can use a 95-96 j30 diff..same axles but the the cover still needs to be swapped

all j30 and 300zx came with lsd...the cover you have to swap is yours off of your non lsd onto the lsd rear end do it can bolt up...the z32 and j30 and s14 have 2 bolts on the rear cover that bolt up to the rear crossmember..the s13 has 4..just take your rear end out...change fluid unbolt yours and bolt onto the lsd rear end...same size and bolt pattern just different internals..if you go with the 95-96 rear end you dont have to change the axles
