can i put a v lsd from a 91 super hicas on my beat up old 89 coupe and do i need to make any modifications?

the simple answer is to search... but I'll save you the time b/c I'm feeling nice. yes the vlsd from a hicas equiped 240 will bolt right up. the downside: all hicas models have ABS, odds are that your 240 doesn't have ABS. the problem with that is that the vlsd's from hicas models have an abs sensor in the nose of them that makes them an additional .75" longer than a car w/o abs. Thus there can be some issues w/ getting the driveshaft to connect to the diff.... But from basically every source there is, ppl agree that there is enough play in the stock driveshaft (w/ the rubber dampeners and all) that the added length to the diff doesn't really matter much.

So in summary, yes the vlsd will bolt right in, but it will fit tighter than your stock open diff and you might encounter a few issues but nothing too big.

Arrow is pretty much correct, but if you can get your driveshaft off your hatch, you will be better off. I think a few members have had problems with their rear transmission seal failing after swapping in an ABS VLSD
