I wanted to find out if I could put 22's on my M35 and what would be the best offset or should I just put 20's on the car. Not sure of the offset for either.

Thanks

Welcome to NICO!

There are a number of threads on this topic. Please do a search for it.

My opinion: don't. The added weight, etc., simply do not justify the performance loss, wheel quality issues, tire costs. The 19" OEM wheels on the Sport are pretty darn nice to begin with! Spend your money on getting the best tires possible for those rims when time comes to change them.

putting 22in rims on an m35 is the dumbest thing to do...i wouldnt even do 20in...get 19in with thicker tires...looks real good. buy a suv if you want 22in rims

There is a reason why the factory doesn't put 20 inch plus rims on some cars.

Not only will your car be slower, but it will ride like a go-kart running over a pebble.

I just don't get the whole big rim craze. On some cars it looks good. Big rims are for big cars. 22's is just a little too much screams ghetto in my opinion.

whoa whoa!! calm down. You hurt MY feelings when you bash the 20's

It's his first post, give him a break. That conservative way of thinking and talking/typing can be bad for your health and reputation.

juddYou can do it with an all around setup of 255/30/22, ET35 offset... but double check with a good tire shop.

here is one with Asanti 22's and eibachs

Auto Couture (Lative) Wheels 20’s coiled up with JIC Magic's20's are common on these, but still consider offset and tire width

you must be the only one driving in it bc i doubt you can put people in the back there...i wonder what your ride is like and you prob cant even enjoy the car...u must be driving slow and trying to avoid every bump on the road...just doesnt seem practical to me...the 20's might be okay actually by looking at that black car but i would get thicker tires if possible...but its your car so u can do what u want....do your tires rub??? bc i want to get thicker tires for the stock 19's but dont want the tires to rub when i have people in the back or when i hit bumps

Sorry Cake,

I think 20's look nice on a lowered M such as yours.

Anything bigger IMO just is too much. With out the lowering the M looks like it's on stilts.

BTW, you need to give me a ride in yours so I can feel how it rides. Most car's Iv'e been in on 20's was kind of choppy. Is yours smooth?

According to tire rack, the front size (where 54% of the cars weight is in a static state) has a load rating of only 22. I imagine a car that large and heavy requires at least a 95 OEM specified minimum rating.

So acceleration, deceleration, ride and safety all suffer over a proper OEM specified 19" or 20" wheel with a proper OEM specified tire.

Any idea what those anchors weigh or what their strength rating is?

Step aside...Mr OEM to the rescue with tech data and reasons why not to...

Hmmm ... two things concern me seriously about your setup:

1. If you hit a bad highway bump, you simply do not have enough sidewall to prevent those wheels from being damaged (bending or breaking).

2. What is the load index of those tires? Low-profile tires like that tend not to be sufficient. If not at least load index 95 rated, then you are likely to have a dangerous blowout with any bad bump.

Ok, I'm not on here eveyday, but I will have to disagree with some of you. My car is not a show car and its daily driven. I have sport and after adding the JIC-magic, The car rides much better. I do agree with you guys regarding slowing down for bumps, but who cares, I'm not in a race to get anywhere. My M is low and I still can carry people in the rear with no problems. Below is my M.

well, it's not too far from stock, but with the low pro style tires I do feel more, but nothing too bad. I wouldn't have it any other way, and yes.. if you got gas money you can drive this demon til the wheels fall off.
