can I leave the intake on?

Mucked up the head gasket replacing the timing cover, have the exaust manifold off and I'm wondering if I can slap a new head gasket in there with the intake still on? My buddy said he did it on his toyota, anyone out there pulled this move? thanks

You have stuff like the PCV hose, throttle cable, other vacuum hoses, and maybe some other things. I'm not sure, though.
