I have the baseline stock system for the 2008 Altima Coupe aka non-Bose.

I'm curious if I'll be able to install an amp and sub with this system without buying an aftermarket head unit. In the past, I've had to buy Air conditioner/CD player casings in order to install the aftermarket head unit because these new cars make it as difficult as possible to simply slide your CD player in an out.

The central consoles casing resembles and inverted trapezoid and looks like I'd have to buy a custom casing adapter for my CD player?

Consequently, at this point I just want to keep the head unit stock. That being said, will an after market amp/sub function with the stock altima head unit? and

Will I get the full range of frequencies?

first I would recommend you read the FAQ http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/356528

and one of my personal favorite audio threads http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread?id=339876

If you want to keep the stock headunit and want to add a sub the you will need a JL audio cleansweep or Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 sound processor

i have the bose with no navi but non the less i did what youre trying to do. On mine i installed two alpine type r's and an alpine m1000 to the factory system. You don't necessarily need the sound processors such as the 3sixty or cleansweep, though those are good. A simple converter would do, i used one made by rockford fosgate actually. it can be found at any bestbuy install shop and was only 26 bucks. you can wire that to your factory radio and plug in the rca's there.i hope i can help at all
