Hi All,I have now had my Kouki for a month,I figure that's enough time for any dealer concealments to appear.I must say so far so good, runs great handles like a dream. But I have a question, please look at these pics

It seems theres oil seeping past the top bolts on the valve cover. It just turned 100K miles, and I put 2k on it.I was reading where a thicker oil may help, but it this a precursor to a bigger issue??Thank for any and all help!!!

there are probably supposed to be o-rings or something under the bolts and they were not replaced the last time the valve cover was poppoed off. Check in the spark plug pockets to see if oil is collecting down there. That is a problem, the bolt thing is just annoying.

I just replaced my plugs and they were clean,so I think it is limited only to the bolts. Are there supposed to be washers under the bolts??

I had the same problem with my 95 when I first got it. What I did to fix it was take out the bolts and put a very small amount of high temperature silicone sealant on the valve cover where the bolts touch, and no oil leaks have happened after 10k miles so far.

There's a rubber gromet that comes with the bolt.Yours are most likely old and have dried, making the oil seeping through.Get new ones from the dealer and you should be fine.

I wouldn't change oil grades. Keep what's recommended.

Doesn't the inner valve cover seal stop the oil from coming up in those? That might be the issue, replacing both vavle cover seals might fix it.

my KA has twice as many miles and has stuff seeping from everwhere (with no problems) so i'd say there's nothing o worry about with your engine.

while you are at it, just get an inspection at the dealer ship......j/k (unless you really want to) but i think its the seal, not the grommet, but there is always possibilities

I posted another question about dealer pricing because they found some expensive repairs and I hope to get some advice on that as well, they did not mention the oil on the valve cover, though.
