Evaluating options for getting my 95 Q45 closer to 100% operational. It's all a matter of $.

Thought for today: can I sell this car for anywhere near to what I have in it ?

Major problems affecting value of vehicle:

1) Transmission is going. See http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....25276

Based on year and mileage only NADA says low retail is $6100. KBB says trade-in is $2750 for a fair cond 95 Q45 with 156Kmi.

So, would a private party (or anyone for that matter) give anywhere $6K for this vehicle ? Yeah, I know anything can happen ... but is a car like this have value beyond the average street price in a niche market somewhere ?

I'd like to trade on a less broken Q if possible but I'll fix this one if it's more economical.

Sorry bud but if the transmission is going you're gonna have to knock off at least 2,000 off your 6,000 pricetag. Also, I didn't check the thread to see the hail damage but that will cut down the price as well. Unfortunately, you're probably looking at 3000-3500 tops for the car. With a Q45, it depreciates so fast that it's pretty much not worth selling. I look at it like this: for the amount of money it costs to fix it, it's still cheaper than buying another ride as nice as the one you have.

But...... if you do sell it, you can usually squeeze a few more pennies if ALL the cosmetic things are fixed..... I payed much less for my Q because it had bad leather.......

As I thought.

The best used car strategy is to buy them cheap and keep them running as cheaply as possible. Or, replace 'cheap*' with 'within budget'.

That philosophy will not be a good mix with a Q..... They require a lot..... but even though, they are cheaper than buying a different car (unless its a crap car)

I would be willing to pay top $ for your whole interior minus the seats. So if you decide to part the car out...

I'm keeping it for now. I'll fix the transmission and drive some more.
