Found a good condition 98 frontier king cab SE 4wd, no rust, manual trans, 4cyl, interior and exterior I'd probably give a solid 7-8/10 for its age, bedliner, pickup cap, 150k miles. Its at a dealership and they are asking $5900 for it, seems pretty high to me book value is $4500 in great condition. Is this normal for these early frontiers? I know they are hard to come by I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off and what would be a fair opening offer $4000? $4500?

Pretty high price for 150k miles. I'd start around 3500 and work my way up. Depends on how bad you want the truck. Any maintenance records? Good tires? Seemingly well taken care of? Clutch ever been replaced? That camper shell doesn't add much value...maybe a couple hundred bucks. If the bedliner is a plastic one, I'd deduct for that...LOL...those things suck, and they usually hide rust underneath.

The 4 banger in a 4x4 is a SLOW truck....if you want something that's a little more pleasant on the highway, find a 99-04 v6 model. Around here you can find those with similar miles for the $5900.

If you live where the world is relatively flat, the 4 banger will probably be fine. Be prepared for a lot of 40mph 3rd gear assaults if you live where 6% grades are the norm. I've got a 4 in mine, regeared to 5.14 in the pumpkins, and running 35s. I don't get anywhere quickly.

I'm not concerned with it being fast, I'm coming from a 70hp 86 mazda b2000 man so a bicycle was faster than that thing lol. I like the KA its easy to work on and they last 300k+ if taken care of

Greg,

2 good source's to find Truck Value is KBB.Com and TrueValue.com

When selling I prefer KBB.com

When I was selling my '93 Nissan KC 4 Cyl AT D21, I went by KBB's price,, which I thought was more precise in determining the condition on the Truck.

Good Luck
