I can have a deal on almost new winter tire. The size is 205/50R15. Is it going to fit on my Versa ? I think my speedo is going to be off a bit and that is no problem for me but beside that is there any other reason I shouldn't take them ?

superskunkur speedo was 3.5% off

LaKateur speedo will be 5.7% off

blind_snyperto be 5mph off, you have to be going almost 90 mph with 205/50/15 %)

Very useful tool for comparing tire sizes (Canadian members might find it slightly less useful as it only has US 5mm sizes and not the even sizes available in Canada):http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Keep in mind that speedo inaccuracy is not linear. It's a percentage. The discrepancy increases as speed increases. A 3.5% difference is under 1mph off at 25mph, and 2.5 mph off at 70mph.With my short-geared rear end, I have a discrepancy of about 4mph at 25mph, but at 70 it shoots up to 10!

205-60-15 would be a better choice as they are very very close to the stock 185-65's rolling diameter.

Yes. And those speed sensors (actually, it's singular sensor) use rotational speed from the transmission output shaft to determine speed. So if you have tires with smaller-than-stock rolling diameter, the speedo will read high. Taller tires will read low.

On the Versa? Doubtful. How do you know?

well i should have mentioned that was correct at 30mph... those radars that show you how fast youre going is how i found out... i still dont understand how 205/50/r15 would be off more than 225/30/r20... i guess somethings are better left unknown... but im sure one of you will explain it to me...

225-30 is lower profile than I was expecting (I figured with such a narrow tread for a 20'' tire you'd have a higher sidewall ratio than that). It actually is pretty close to stock (only about 6.6% off). So at 30, it would look very close (you'd actually be doing about 32).

The 205 is a smaller change, and the other direction. It puts you at about 2 mph off at 60 rather than 30. 60 is really 58.

But I never said the two were drastically different. I just doubted your statement that your 20s were accurate, thinking you'd need to run rubber bands on the wheels to be close. I was wrong, since you WERE running rubber bands.
