Can I delay automatic headlight turn on?

I have a 2011 G37X and the owner's manual tells you not to turn on the headlights for short periods of time.

I keep the headlights on automatic all the time. Even in normal daylight, the sensor turns on the headlights each time I pull into the garage and the headlights stay on for about 5 minutes.

Is there some way to add a delay between when the sensors senses darkness and the headlights actually turn on?

No way I know of, just have to turn them off of auto for in and out of the garage.

You wouldn't want it delayed incase of driving into a dark place and suddenly needing them.

Yes there is...Look at the 2011 Owner's manual, page 4-17 (sedan, assuming that's what you have). You can adjust the light sensitivity and the light off delay from the Settings/Comfort menu. Believe he's looking for a light-on delay though. Garage is going to be too dark to adjust them to not come on as well.
