Can hydrolic lash adjusters end up going bad and not able to bleed any more?

How do you know if they are bad? Will it make a knocking sound? And can you tell with a visual inspection?

You cant tell visually. If you remove the camshafts, push down on the rocker arm above the hla. If they go down they need to be re-bleed or replaced. If they do not move they should be fine.

Yes, they can go bad.. I had a HLA that even when I bled it before my head went on, after few starts, it was all spongy again.

Like speedracer said, only way to tell is move the cams and push on the HLA with your thumb and see if it squishes.

cool cool...thanks unfortunatly I found out today that the bad sound is not my hla's. It seems to be something in the bottom end...wich sucks because I just rebuilt it. I think its time to part with my ***** and by that I mean part out. Anyone want a gt28rs with less than 100 miles on it?

That sucks man... I know how that feels.... as I just went through my 2nd rebuilds + 2 heads all within less than 2500 miles.

Yeah at first I also confused my rod knock with valve train noise.

Good luck and how much for your GT28RS?
