Hello, I jut purchased a 2014 Nissan Rogue. I noticed the doors do not unlock when put in park. Only unlocks when ignition is turned off. Is there any way to change this? I thought you could maybe do it through the car's info system, but it didn't work. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to NICO!

Help us to help you. Is your Rogue the old body style (1st gen) or the new body style (2nd gen)?
Did your vehicle come with an owners manual? If so and it's a second gen, the instructions are in section 2-22 Instruments and controls (pg. 97).

After seeing this post and doing a bit of Googling, I found out this can be done, but has to be done at the dealership. It took the service guy about 5 minutes and there was no charge. On whatever screen they do it on, you can tell them it's Mode 2 to have the locks unlock when it's put into Park.

My service technician last week insisted that this could not be done. Is there any other specific language I can use other than Mode 2 when I go back this week?

I'm really not sure. There are some screenshots of the actual place the technician would need to go to. I think it was on a Murano site. Here is what I found in the forum:

DOOR LOCK : CONSULT-III Function (BCM - DOOR LOCK)
AUTOMATIC DOOR UNLOCK

SELECT:

Automatic door unlock function mode can be selected from the following in the mode.

• MODE 1: All doors are unlocked when the power supply position is changed from ON to OFF

• MODE 2: All doors are unlocked when shifting the selector lever from any position other than the P to P position

• MODE 3: Driver side door is unlocked when the power supply position is changed from ON to OFF

• MODE 4: Driver side door is unlocked when shifting the selector lever from any position other than the P to P position

The service tech at Nissan does it. They did it to mine after I bought it. The hook up a computer system to it and change it in the settings. Takes about 5 minutes. You can also change when your doors lock. Mine locks when I hit 15mph I believe and unlocks when I put the car in Park.

Just remember,

It may seem like a beneficial feature, but it may not be the best idea.

Like, if you park, and then realize there are some sketchy people near you, and every door pops unlocked for them.

I haven't checked yet, do the doors not automagically unlock when you pull on the handle to exit? I plan on turning that feature off.

While my car was at the dealer getting the fuel pump replaced, again. I asked them to do this for me. They acted like it was this huge deal, the car never came outfitted with it blah, blah blah. Service advisor said his Master Tech had never heard of it, I was imagining that this could be done and it couldn't. Bottom line, they did it. Car now locks when shifted into reverse and unlocks when shifted into park.

The SA really seemed put out by this and made it seemed like I was asking for a million dollar service. I am not too happy with the dealership anyway because they had my car for two weeks, never called me to give me an update on what the issue was. I had to keep calling them to find out what was wrong. They told me because my car was sold in NY, the fuel pump parts were different than a car that was sold in Florida and that's why it took so long. I figured all cars are built the same way?

The point is, this can be done.
