I'm kinda itchy about buying an entire engine from ebay but the rpice is pretty low. What do you guys think. I was going to get one from Jarco but it costs about 2k w/o shipping or anything. Reliability and being trustworthy costs a lot

First link, has a cut harness and no MAF or igniter chip. Second, well, I dunno. As for being trustworthy and reliable, well, you are taking a chance no matter what. Like I said in another post, none of these resellers are going to take the time to tear apart the motor and check for wear. Sure, a compression test can show you great results but that doesn't mean 2 days after your 30-day startup warranty is over you won't spin a rod bearing or have oil pump failure. The truth is, nobody REALLY knows. That's why when I pick mine up, I am getting one as cheap as possible and rebuilding the bottom end before anything else.

The last time I've talked to Jarco, they said they don't even do a compression check on the engine. SOmething about their guy been pulling engine for several years now so he just can tell.... I guess he has some major skills since all Jarco's customers are complimenting them.

god i love jarco. those people are great. ive been there and talked with everyone (with C) and i am very confident that the engine you would get from them is going to be a great one. plus that rb powered s13 was absolutely brutal! especially while drifting a culdesac (sp?) repeatedly when sitting in the bac seat with no seat belt on. it was awesome to say the least.

oh! and as for those engines, the bottom one is definately a better deal, but i would rather buy from the people at the top (anarchy motors i guess they are called) because they have a 100% feedback rating with 53 transactions. not too shabby.

for the money though, i would go with jarco because i know firsthand that they are some great guys who will stand behind their products.

I guess Jarco it is. I have to rent a pick up truck and all those goodies to go pick the engine up. Do they provide any service at all when it comes to transportation?Like lending me a cherry picker or something, otherwise iw ould have to rent one too...blah. I live like 30 mins away from the place.

i bought a motor from the top one. it is anarchy motors located somewhere in canada. offered the guy 900 for motor and trany when the one listed on ebay didn't sell. he agreed and i sent money thru paypal.i expected it to take 2-3 weeks to get here in so cal. well it arrived in two days!! suprise suprise suprise! don't know where it exactly came from but i guanantee it wasn't canada. i figured i'd check things out so the first thing i was going to replace anyway was the turbo, so off it came. guess what, it was frozen solid. (hum) maby that wasn't the only thing wrong. next i pulled the head and found something that resembeled the bottom of a coffee cup with a bit of milk that had been sitting for a couple of days. so from there i just took the whole damm thing apart! the bottom end was supprisingly in good shape. so don't know if that person can be trusted, but for the price? btw: does anyone have a ignitor chip for sale? i realy need one!

From my experience I would follow c-rads train of thought. Find the cheapest one you can, and rebuild the whole thing. I wish I had done that. I spent $1700 for a clip from venus, and 6 months later, I was pulling the motor back out and rebuilding it. If I had bought a cheap set for $900, I could have had a helluva built motor for another $800.

you don't need a lot of special tools other than a socket set and torque wrenchKnowledge is what NICO is here for.

I don't know anything about this guy but since he's a moderator, it should be ok to trust him...right?http://nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=92696

Should i get that CA or the one from Jarco. Jarco costs about the same but I would have to get the shipping and all that through; rent a truck and equipments to pick up the engine since i live near the place. This guy has the engine for the same price shipped.

Well, if the motor is not in the car, there is really no tools you need. I mean, the shop won't charge you that much to disassemble the motor. A qualified mechanic can probably tear it apart in 30mins-1hr depending on whether you remove the accessories yourself or not. And those just require a $6.99 socket set from walmart. Just download the FSM and get to know your car and the motor yourself. That is the best way to learn. Maybe it's just my cheap-*** DSM mentality where I could never afford to have anyone do the work, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Thats a tough one. Jason is a good guy, but Jarco is INFAMOUS for their top quality stuff. I also think that if you get one from Jarco, they'll give you the rear differential too, which would be nice because it's got different gearing.

Besides getting the gear set direct from Nissan, is there any other car that uses the 4.36 diff other than the ca powered S13s from overseas?

I have a Kaaz 2way on right now. Jason or Jarco...hmmmmm...hmmmmm. I wonder which one costs less overall and less hassle to deal(shipping, renting equipments, etc).
