I was under my 95' Q yesterday and noticed that there is an open hole to the engine\trans right next to my starter. The hole, and I assume some sort of missing plug, is on the side of the housing not on the bottom like a traditional drain type plug. It is about 3/4" to 1" in diameter and looks like some sort of plastic or metal plug should be in the hole. I can see a retaining clip that looks like it once held something in place that is now gone. I have never noticed this before. Anyone know what this plug is called? I took a picture that I'll post later tonight if my description isn't clear enough.

Thanks, Adam

Thats funny, unless you mean actual starting fluid.

I will look at mine tommorow for you.

that I believe is an inspection plug for the starter, and theres a rubber plug that is supposed to be there..

I believe you can either see the bendix for the starter or the flywheel, but i cant remember which.. Thankfully, its been a long time since Ive been under my Q, moreso with an automatic trans..

Thanks Wes. Now I know what to call it when I attempt to find a replacement. Is the port there solely for inspection purposes or is there some type of maintenance that can be done via the port like applying grease to the bendix?

Thanks, Adam

Infiniti calls it a "Blind Plug" - Part number is 67899-60U00 available at IOS for $8.25 or lists for $11.00

I had forgotten all about this part, but I remember finding a very deteriorated one hanging off of my old Q after a transmission replacement. I don't think you can do anything except inspect the teeth on the flywheel through this hole... I certainly wouldn't try to grease anything.
