Can anyone tell me if these numbers are good?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I just bought a 1993 KA24DE with 82,000 miles on it. My KA blew about 3 years ago so i bought this one. I did a cylinder leakage (Or is it leakdown?) test on it and i was wondering if anyone else has done one and if they can tell me their results.

Cylinder 1 on my car was 10% leakage at 100psiCylinder 2 was 32% leakage at 100psiCylinder 3 was 3-4% leakage at 100psiCylinder 4 was 10% leakage at 100psi

*Cylinder 1 being the one closest to the front of the car and moving back from there.

I was hoping to get some feedback and compare results with anyone else that may have done this test already.

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated.

Compression should be over 150-155. Check if you have a blown head gasket, worn rings, etc.

He did a leak down test not a compression test!

Those numbers are okay in my opinion. If you can do a compression test with a battery and a set of jumper cables. What did the oil look like?

well i heard if you do a leakdown test then you really dont need to do a comp test. should i be worried about cylinder 2 being at 32%?? i think if i just take an exhaust valve from my old motor and put it in it should be a quick fix...btw i havent checked the oil because the motor has not been in a car for almost a year im guessing. all the spark plugs looked like they had normal wear on them. should i replace the exhaust valve? if i dont replace it, will that 32% cause a problem?

Why do you think it is the exhaust valve? I think if you feel that it is a problem then you should get the head check at a shop and rebuild the top end.

i think its the exhaust valve because when i was running the test i could feel air leaking through the exhaust end.

Do you mean at the back of the car or did you have the manifold off? If it was at the back of the car then your exhaust valve had to be open because you never would have felt that much air with a leak.

If the engine is on a stand with no manifold then I would just take the head off and send it to a machine shop and get it checked. But if you are looking for cheap then get an some oil base valve lapping compound and do all the valves. Your also going to want a head gasket kit.

Does the motor you did a leak test on have a good head gasket? If it doesn't then air will leak through it. You did the right thing by seeing if air was coming out of somewhere. I would just do it again and make sure you're at tdc compression stroke for the cyl being tested.

ur right i am going to do another test just to be certain i was at tdc, however im pretty damn sure i was. the head gasket is in perfect condition on the new motor. and i felt the air coming out of the header because the motor is not in the car yet. it wasnt a significant amount...i was able to hear it though and feel it just a little.
