Can anyone teach me how to check and adjust timing?

My engine is idling not very soomth... like shaking the whole car...my friend told to check my timing..Can anyone teach me how to cehck ign. timing???And how can I adjust it?? maybe play around with timing for a bit of power?

you should have about 5 degrees plus and minus that you can change timing on thru the CAS (cam angle sensor) it is on right drivers side of the block. little box thing that has two screws holding it in. a timing gun will show you the timing (when the motor is cold) it is in the FSM.

This guy did a good writeup and it's how I finally got my timing set correctly. you don't necessarily need another coilpack, you can stick the plug wire in your current one.
