It's been three months and West Covina Nissan, who used to be excellent, still hasn't even gotten in the right parts to fix the driver's door leak. From January to March 2009 they "fixed" it three times under warranty. Apparently the only reason it was fixed was it quit raining here.

January 2010 the leak and resulting electrical short happened again in prolonged rain. In the time since they have ordered the wrong rubber for the window twice and failed to keep me updated as promised. This to a customer who bought he car from them and drives over 20 miles to have them do every bit of maintenance on it! And pays cash!

The time has finally come for me to explore saving a few bucks, travel time and have someone local service the car. I'm not going to keep throwing money at West Covina now that the quality of their service has gone south. Ontario Nissan is out. Has anyone here dealt with Fontana Nissan's service department?

they are ok but i recommed go see Ruben at Downey nissan. Ruben is the Service Director.

and so you know the reason west covina nissan service sucks now is cause they let Ruben go. he was there service manager that was on top of everything. the new manager at west covina nissan is a good friend of the corp owners. this is one of the times you see people lose there jobs for stupid reasons.

Thanks for the info.

Is it possible under the warranty to have West Covina transfer the warranty repair to another dealer before it is completed? I'm really fed up with West Covina at this point. The general manager of the dealership didn't even respond to an email or return a phone call.

If they've started the repairs already, probably not. I'd call West Covina and ask about your situation.

Unanswered emails to the service department and the general manager of the dealer. I was over that way Monday so I stopped in and checked on the parts with the service writer I've known there for two and a half years. Parts were in; I was never notified.

The business was theirs to lose and they did. Now I'll give someone else a chance to work on the car. I told them I was taking my next service elsewhere as a consequence and gave them until the end of the week to fix the leak if they ever wanted to see me again. So, today, they replaced all the weather stripping and rubber in the driver's door. They claim they tested it but I don't know how since it is a leak that takes hours to show up.

I've heard good things about Metro Nissan's service which is express service certified (Fontana isn't) so I think I'll let them do the next service. Downey is just too far to go for the simple things.

Metro is ok i've heard a few horror stories about them but truthfully the same can be said about any service department. and so you know the new General Manager of West Covina is BoB Bailey from Universal City Nissan. you are lucky to see him there maybe once a month. also you might want to talk to the people at Carson Nissan. If you have been at West Covina Nissan when mister Frank Bockmen was the General Manager there you must have meet him. Well he now opened his own Nissan DealerShip out in Carson. Ya its kind of a drive but you will feel like its was when West Covina Opened up a few years back. Since Frank left West Covina that place has gone down the drain. I know i used to work there.

At least you've given me some options, even if they are a little far for me. I guess I could plan day trips around the service appointments to make driving over there worthwhile. Thank you for the information.

I guess I got my answer about Fontana Nissan from the "speeder" that just had his engine and transmission replaced by Fontana. He came by the crosswalk to pick up his kid right after picking up the car.

It sounded like a rattling old lawnmower. Took a close look. They cracked plastic parts but put them in anyway, most notably the cowling around the fan. They reused plastic fasteners so things rattled and who knows why the engine sounded so terrible. Other parts weren't tightened down. They've agreed to take a look at and fix whatever but the car obviously should never have been released from the dealership in the condition they left it. Even a blind man could see there were serious thing wrong with that car that they claimed was "fixed."
