Can any one tell what transs. Is good for a sr20det 00-94?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Alot of turbo guys run talling gear set from the Infiniti G20t transmission. The sentra se-r transmission from 91-93 was prone to 5th gear pop out. Another option is running the transmission from a B15 sentra SE or 1999-2002 Infiniti G20t.

You can, and it will work fine. He was just stating the preferred trans choices.

I merged your threads since they are redundant.

The GTi-R engine is the most desirable of the FWD SR20DET's, but there are other options that are also good. Take a look around this forum, the Table of Contents, and the FWD SR20DET forum. You should be able to find a good bit of discussion about the GTi-R engine and other options.

As I stated in my first post, it will fit.

Please refrain from starting an additional thread with questions related to this. I'm merging your newest one in here too.

An auto trans is going to the fun out of a turbo engine. I'd look for a manual to swap in.

You're better of not getting the GTI-R motor, primarily because everything is much more expensive. With a BB a Avenier you can just got out and buy things like your water pump and such at your local auto store. With the GTI-R you can't, and instead of the usual price you'd expect it's over $260 a pump! Point being that they are almost exactly the same and the BB/Avenier motors are easier to maintain.

For you transmissions, get a 5-speed manual none of that auto BS. The swapping one to the other really isn't all that hard and worth it. You can use a B13, B14, B15, or G20 transmission. Problem with the B13's are no LSD and you need to fix the 5th gear pop out problem which isn't that cheap.

Another problem with all of the transmissions is that they are wear transmissions and will actually crack on the passenger side do to wheel hop so you need to get them welded which is only $50.

Lastly depending on your end goal for power you may want to look into getting your new transmission Cryo Treated $ Shot Peen'd right away. They are a little expensive but i'll keep you from having to buy another new transmission down the line.

Check http://www.jgycustoms.com/serg20.htm and look under the transmission section. They have prices on all the stuff and can do anything you want to the transmission there. Hope this all helps.

If you can get a U13 or an Avenier is probably your best way to go. I ordered all my stuff from JGY and they were out of U13's that passed compression tests and such, but they do have plenty of Avenier's. If you order everything through them like trany and such I'm sure they'll start cutting you deals, and they can pack a lot of stuff onto the engine crate to save shipping.

You can also do the U12 but you'd probably want a new manifold because the turbo actually faces up not down on that model. You could also just build up your own if you got an N/A SR20 (shameless plug of the one I have for sale) motor and went to town on it.

Same ones. Still a FWD SR, so the trans all hook up the same way.

You could use any of them. I'm still running my stock B14 one and it's working just fine. I still need to get it welded and treated and such, the welding will happen soon not sure on the rest.

Stock transmissions are typically good up to 250HP. Cryo treating will help prevent breakage to about 280HP. Shot peening, traditionally done after cryo treating, will help prevent breakage up to about 310HP.

The only one you would have to do some work on would be the B15. Your reverse lights don't come on unless you wire up and change some sensor. Pretty sure it's really simple.

Honestly I'm not really sure on the specs of a G20 transmission and if they're any stronger initially but I do know that they have cooling fins.

B14 is a chassis code. B13-B15 Sentras had variants of the SR20 available. All G20s were powered by the SR20, hence the "20" in the name.

Sentra generations/years:B13 1991-94B14 1995-99B15 2000-06 (though the SR was retired in 2001)

G20's were available in two generations:P10 91-98P11 99-02

The P11 and B15's transmissions are the most desirable (generally) because of stronger gears. This is particularly true of B15s with the Performance Package and P11s in Touring trim, as they also had limited slip.

Not really sure on your question...

A FWD SR20 motor can go into any 90-94 Sentra with very little effort compared to other swaps that can be done.

Yes. Any trim except the SE-R 91-99 had the GA16DE. SE-R was the only model with the SR20.

For 00 and 01 it was only the SE that had the SR20. Other models had the QG18DE.

That information isn't correct. ALL 91-94 Sentra SE-R's come with LSD. Yes the 5th gear pop out is an issue and can be fixed with alot less money than you think.

Lastly, you can do what you want, but I don't recommend buying anything from JGY Customs, period.

I have had 280whp for 3yrs and only destroyed 4th gear once. I have no welding or shot peening done. The car has been drag raced numerous times, slicks and street tires with hard launches. Pulling 1.7-1.8 60' times. Driving habits play a large role in whether or not you start to break transmissions and axles, which I haven't broken a axle in 6yrs of boost. I would highly recommend you run some good gear oil, Redline Shockproof heavy weight gear oil. It is very thick and adheres to everything.

The car has since had some horsepower increase and by the end of spring should be close to 350whp.

Please make use of the Table of Contents. There's a whole list of SR engines (which are the most common and easiest swaps). It really depends on you plan on doing with the car and how much you're willing to spend.

We've explained the different trans possibilities, and, aside from 5th gear pop out in the 91-94's, they're all good choices.

Take a look around this and the FWD SR20 section. We've had many discussions at length about swaps.
