I've been doing a lot of thinking, and since Nismo doesn't seem to be in any great hurry to make anything else for the coupe at present, such as a shock/strut package, I've been considering springs.

Now my buddy has an 02 Spec-v, and he told me that when he put his lowering springs on, it took about 2 months for him to blow his struts. I've been in his car, and that thing is riding on the bump stops.

As the title so plainly states, my concern is would this happen to my struts were I to install Eibachs? Or is this likely an isolated incident or what? Thanks for your guys' help.

They will eventually wear them out and it also depends on your driving and the roads you drive on

Thanks for the reply! So I guess this is just a risk that everyone has accepted, then? What would you say is the average wear time, if you were to be driving on roads with no potholes or speed bumps? Or is that pretty much a random factor?

If ride quality is your concern, don't touch any part of the suspension at all... I did the whole thing and now I regret it >_<

Well, it's no so much the ride quality, per se. I like stiff suspension. I just dont want my struts to blow and be bottoming out every time I hit a pebble, know what I mean?

I have had the springs on since the first group buy. I guess when they came out, i cant remember the date. But i have not heard any reports on the forum of anything happening to anybody's struts.

I have heard that springs cause the strut to wear anywhere between 5% to 15% sooner, and possibly as high as 30%. But these springs arent that agressive, so you shouldnt have any problems.

Id buy new struts b4 i lived with that wheel gap.

word x 10!!! phucking 4x4 factory Altima look! I hate it..

anyway, back to the OP's question... there's a reason that so many people trust Eibach. There's a suspension specialist here in San diego "the guy with the 325ix" that was winning tons of rally competitions just from doing a super supension overhaul.... anyway, his company mainly does suspension for high end sports cars, and the word out of his mouth was that "Eibach" was the only suspension company that he knew of that did their R&D the right way when it comes to building progressive spring sets.

Eibach builds there pro kits springs to be used with or without factory struts and shocks. Their Sportline sorings (not offered for our cars) are meant to be used with upgraded aftermarket struts and WILL wear down your factory struts pretty quickly (know that from experience) but that's something that Eibach will clearly let you know when purchasing them!

I'm at 41K miles and I need new struts. I get squeaking from them from time to time now. Been dropped on Eibachs since like 8k miles.

If I remember correctly, Eibach is the first company that make a spring for A/C. I just wonder what takes them so long to produce shocks/dampers and sway bars.

Not going to explain much in details, but a short summary:

I have talk to many companies about this subject(aftermarket parts). Another reason why I have many mods and sponsors. Our market is small(Nissan sales and us Altima coupe tuners) and is not beneficial for companies to produce aftermarket parts. R&D is not cheap.

Now as for having new shocks. First of all, our car is new, what is going to be the most common and cheap upgrade going to be? Springs, wheels, exhaust, intake, etc.. Do you get what I am saying? Companies are not going to make shocks unless there is demand. Eventually there will be demand when the car starts getting older and shocks are needed.

If you want to see more parts made(I don't guarantee it will happen), start emailing/calling companies with interest or being potential buyers.

this is pretty common sense..supply and demand. No demand, no supply and the fact that our car isn't even in Japan where most quality manufacture produce thier parts. Honestly, if the altima coupe was made in Japan too I can guarantee you there would have been at least 5 company that offer coilovers by now, bunch of intakes and exhaust and we wouldnt be sitting pretty here waiting for company to produce something by now

I'm starting to think 1 or more of my struts are going. I've been lowered on Eibachs for 10k miles or so and bumps in the road have become noticeably rougher. Also, any time the left side only or right side only hits a bump I seem to get a left to right sway. Kind of annoying. I still have my stock springs but I can't stand the look of it. Are replacing the stock struts even worth replacing? Anyone else with the pro-kit noticing this? Thanks guys.
