Can AEM CAI really be worth the $200 more price tag?

My next investment is going to be an intake and can't decide. I had a CAI on my Civic SI and a Injen on my 05' Frontier. For $350 the AEM says only a gain of about 6 hp. The Fujita WAI claims about the same for less money. Question is, is the AEM really worth the extra dough?

Well, I see two ways to look at it.

From an HP point of view, probably not unless you're in a warm climate and experience high under hood temperatures on a regular basis. That's when the AEM is going to maintain more of a gain over the Fujita.

From a parts point of view, you get a second shiny tube and a big metal box for the extra money. If one shiny tube and a filter is worth 200 (Fujita), then maybe the extra is worth another 200 (AEM).

It's all up to you man.

The K&N is suposed to have the same kind of air box but a little more wallet friendly

I think it's worth it. I definitely love my AEM intake. I live in an extremely hot climate and I think it makes a difference. I can understand wanting to save some money, but if you want quality parts you are going to pay for them. People will pay a lot for lighted kickplates, but don't want to pay for a quality intake? I don't get it. No offense Doc. I like the look of your kickplates, but there are other things that I want for my A/C that I can use that money for.

My AEM is great - well worth the money and because of where I live, and a couple of hookups, I was able to get it for less then the Injen. I liked the design of the AEM the minute I saw it with the fuctional intake pipe from the front grill. I would have liked to compare it to the K&N but didn't want to wait any longer. And the new gunmetal option is awesome.

Even a $200 price tag is a lot for a tube and a filter...
