Yea it can drift.Takes skill man.Mine is bone stock and I do decent.I don't go to competitions though.Me and my friend hit up the streets he's only got exhaust. Just take practice.I learned on dirt roads with other vehicles and ATV's so I know how thing react. And I'm use to my car now and do pretty well.Only did a combo a couple times.

YUP, A KA 240 CAN DRIFT STOCK, I'M LIVING PROOF OF IT,

it's not car setup, it's driver skill.

learn to drift, upgrade your setup as your skill's "upgrade".

an lsd of any kind, even a viscous would really be helpful though. It's more difficult to slide around in a car without one. If you had even a vlsd in there you'd be able to get something more out of it. I've drifted my 240 when it was bone stock, and the only thing I'm changing are suspension parts. The KA has enough torque to drift at fairly low speeds too if you have poor tires in the rear. Sorry I don't have any vids for you...search this forums and you'll find one surely.

i take mine to a road with loose gravel or just a gravel road.. it's fun. I plan on shimming my diff up sometime in the future. Have you all ever heard of shimming a diff?

if a 90hp 86 can drift a 150hp 160lb-ft S-chassis can drift too. its all about the driver. try to keep the RPMs above 4500.

you need LSD, and if you want, email me if you want some pics of me drifting, i have a bone stock, and dying KA. Also check out Casey Mears, he was at formula D new jersey. He drifts a stock KA and he does very well for only having 160 hp

edit: and yes its mostly driver skills, you should learn how to drift on an open diff using the e-brake, you might not think its fun, but it will teach you alot. i did very well at this last event at our track, and i was pitted against plenty of SR'd 240s'.

when i first started with my 13 it was soo easy in comparison to my 86 it's not even funny.. my 86 had built suspension and a stock but still strong lsd..s13 if you just go fast around a corner it'll come out eventually...so when i got my kaaz and coilovers and the rest of the crap i got for it .. it was a dream to drive..now a year the engine is a lil more worn out .. more like very worn out and like many others in south florida we can still do 60 mph entries (speed gun) at the track we use in hialeah. and in competition days sr's dont beat my good ol ka yet. ka are good.. i think i'll keep it ..wooosh

ps theres tons of ka drifters if you find the post of pics of us drifting..most say this is them in their stock ka.. and bam a pic of them sliding

I actually find it easier and better to drift with my KA24 , its a little more responsive than the SR20DET and having no mild turbo lag or power surge is great for being non turbo, im about to upgrade engines though anyways, becuase im moving on to track....

BETTER RESPONCE IS ALWAY'S BETTER THAN TURBO LAG WHEN IT COME'S TO DRIFTING..

heck ya, how many drifters do you think are SR in the states? i can allmost garentee then started drifting low hp

if you start out with too much power then youll just spin out all the time, learn how to drive your car on the KA then swap it to get higher speed, angle drifts etc...

KA's rule, the torque is plenty for drifting, I recently met a guy from "East Coast Drifters" with an 86... only engine mod is strait exaust and carbs. hes one hell of a drifter too... trophies to prove it.

I usually stay around 45-5k rpm when im mid drift,...and ForsakenTH, lol I love that pic... so much roll

Some of the 240 people where I live tell me they can drift the KA better than the SR(They have both). There is two of them and they have 3 s14's(between the 2 of them) 2 KA's and one SR. they also have lots of free tires to burn. I don't have nay video's but I have seen them in action and on tape giving the KA's hel|.

yeah the ka beein na most the time may make it easier b/c of the responce.. but still.. once you learn how to keep the boost up and wheels spinning.. sr would own.. unless ofcourse.. ka-t was hanging around. i think thats the way to go..
