as some of you have read from a previous thread, i have been having an over heating problem...

i have fixed/ replaced :Radiator Fan clutch Nissan thermostat Headgasket Bled and flushed coolant

my problems when i drive the car will be fine for about 10 minutes then it overheats... so i pull over and turn it off... no longer than 2 minutes later i turn on the car and and the temp rads normal on the third needle... so this will happen about 4 times on the way to school... but on the way back it happens once... but when i pop the hood this burst of hot air smothers me and the valve cover is hott...

what im going to do tomorrow im going to the junk yard and picking up a radiator fan(dont have one, but do have a cooling fan) and will try to find a good catalytic converter in good shape and see how that works and upgrade to a high later

Do you think itll work cuz ive tried everything and this seems like a plausibe solution

could be air in the system passing the sensor and making the needle change.

or the headgasket wasnt put on right.

I'm not sure what you mean by it has a cooling fan but not a radiator fan. If you mean the fan on the AC core thats not gonna cut it. If its the radiator fan then the car should be fine as long as it's moving fast enough, but when you slow down it will overheat.

One thing you should check is when the engine is getting hot, is the radiator itself hot. Because if it's not then you have a bad thermostat(yes a brand new one can be bad, happened to me), or possibly a bad water pump. If it is hot another problem might be your radiator cap, or simply a leak somewhere in the system.

if your current cat is cloged it would cause poor power and sluggish preformance im pretty sure it wouldent cause you car to over heat.

the cooling fan is not a replacement for the main clutch fan.either get eletric fans for your radiator or put the clutch fan back on with its shroud.

then like the last guy said it could be air in your in your coolant lines or a crappy head gasket.

AND if its not a head gasket and you keep driving it till it over heats it prolly will be a head gasket very soon.

The only way a high flow cat would help is if it can be used as a paper weight to hold down proper bleeding instructions. Put the car on a steep incline ie. Ramps or jack stands or a really steep driveway And run it with the cap off and the heater on full blast, it sounds like you have air in the system it takes a long time to get out it, I had the front of my car on a lift and had it sitting and running for nearly 20 min before all the air finally came out. Best of luck! hope everything gets figured out!

So you're driving your car around with no kind of engine cooling fan and wondering why it's overheating? That makes sense.

EDIT: Is your clutch fan working? Or is that the one you don't have.

There are two fans that come stock:

-Clutch fan-A/C fan

The clutch fan is that big fan that'll cut your fingers. The A/C fan is that wimpy thing on the radiator that does nothing for your engine.

if you think your cat is bad, then you need to run it until it's worm and get a laser temp. scanner and measure right before the cat and right after, there should be no more than a 5 to 10% difference.

What radiator did you put in? I had an overheating problem when I put an aftermarket radiator in it. Check the temp of the thermostat housing, mine was ice-cold. Hot water on the back of the thermostat, and cold water on the front would not allow the thermostat to open, causing my overheating issue, I drilled a 3/8th in hole, and my problem was gone.

So you don't have a fan? And you haven't checked your water pump?

It's not your catalytic converter
