you can get a new surface but i also i read that it can be resurfaced. You cannot flip it over....The mating surface is not aluminum, it is steel just like a stock flywheel

Now that makes sense. It was just a thought. I just hate it when people tell me something can't be done, and won't say why. It usually turns out they said that because someone else told them, who happened to be full of ****. I still would think you could machine it though, so long as it was done carefully, and not too deeply.

And no sunny, I didn't mean flip the whole wheel, just the friction surface.

use an abrasive disc on a air grinder. your really just wanting to break any glazing thats present.

First, I was just ****ing with you sunny, you have to admit it was a little funny. Second. Why not some low count sand paper and put some swirls in it. Also, you could use a dremel and a flapwheel.

has any on ever driven a car with a warped friction surface? man it blows chunks and chunks is a dog, anyways, you can machine the friction surface but only a little, then you have to get a new one, I got my flywheel used and man, did I have a time finding a surface, I remember nippon power or something like that, a guy named richard I think, hooked me up and it was about 75 shipped if I remember right

I can get the replacement surface for cheap, but i need it today. I was just wondering how bad of an idea it would be to throw it in w/o machining. I really want my fidanza in there for the extra power, but i need it all done by tomorrow.

Like some have suggested...use a light grit sandpaper, and use a swirling motion.

Cover the whole surface evenly...it's just to get the "glaze" off, to remove the shine.

That's ALL that's needed, unless the surface is badly heat scorched or something.

I've done this countless times, and never had one clutch issue.

I have only machined one flywheel in all of the clutches I have done, because it was covered in blue spots, and I was having it lightened anyway. You just break the glaze in a circular motion, and install it. Do it until you sweat and it isn't shiney, then you're done.
