Ok

Here is the Deal my friend had a Heath Plan with petsmart on his 2 dogs. He told them he does not want the plan any more 9 months ago and now they send him a bill of $190. He try to call them and tell them saying he did not want it anymore about 9 months ago. But they said he need to pay it or a Collection company will handle it.

Here is the thingHe never told them his real name other the last name but they do have his cell phone number. The Address number is right but the street is spell wrong and City and state is right. But they do not have his SSN or anything ealse other then what kinda dogs he has.

So he is asking me to ask around can they find him and make him pay? Or would they just drop it after they can't reach him

He's clean.

Andy (Repo) could answer this better, but w/o a SSN, there's no way to attach it to his credit report (to my knowledge).

However, people who make commitments then don't pay their bills really SUCK.

Then he's screwed.

If he had it automatically drafted, the bank has his SSN and correct info.

And he probably signed an agreement for a certain # of months, which means he needs to pay it off.

Lessons to be learned here: good grammar works wonders, and always pay your bills, even if you are "sick of it". Your friend should have followed up on his attempt at cancelling the services. I find it highly unlikely he hasn't been getting billed for the last 9 months and from the limited information available, he seems liable for the bill. I suggest he buck up and pay the damn money, it's only 190 bucks he should have been paying all along.

Wait, so let me get this straight. He "cancelled" the plan, but yet continued to pay for it after cancelling it until he "got sick of it" and changed his credit card number so he couldn't be billed any more? That's exceptionally stupid. If he had truly cancelled it and then was billed later, why the heck didn't he immediately call and straighten things out? To wait 9 months until a collection agency is involved is outright negligent and irresponsible on his part.

Not to be rude or anything, but I get the sense you want to argue, regardless of what someone says.

Let your friend figure it out on his own. He's gotta pay, since he apparently made an agreement.

I think he needs to look carefully at the original agreement he signed. Could be that a verbal notification was insufficient. Might have to be a written notificaion. The devil is in the details. Sounds like he's on the hook for that money until he formally terminates that plan. If he doesn't have the original contract, then he should pay a visit and them ask what's necessary to terminate it. And collection agencies are not dumb, they will find your friend.

If you really want to help your friend, ask him to contact a lawyer to sort this all out. Collection Agencies can ruin your credit report over something as trivial as a 190$ bill from Pet Smart.

So did we get this sorted out?

They have his name, they sent him a bill, which means they have his current addy. Let's say the bill went to his old addy(his mom's house or somethin). He no doubt has a cell phone, and a DL, and a CC, and maybe even a social security card. Collections can match his name to his addy(or a list of addy's), verify and match this info with other accounts that report to credit agencies(Experian, TransUnion, Equifax), and get his SSN.

Any credit agency can give any collection agency a list of names and aliases with all known addresses, and all known SSN's... there is no escape.

If they have the wrong address and wrong name you COULD wait until it appears on a credit report. Then dispute it on the credit report. You can have all strikes against you that have the wrong information.I've been in a situation where charges, THAT WERE NOT MINE, were striked against my credit. I contacted all 3 credit reporting agencies and had ALL strikes against me removed that did not have the correct address. Then again I was a identity theft victim. Most LOA's have to have correct information to be valid.
