can a ca18det swap in an s13 become bar legal?

It was the ca18et that was sold in the us but its from an older car so it still would not be legal.The CA18DE was here in a fwd pulsar however your engine would need to be NA and have all smog equipment as well as a serial number corresponding to the fwd CA18DE.

only newer engine in older car not the other way around
