idk, but what happened to your old block? did you add extra ventilation or something?

I would think for what it will cost you to get machined, getting someone to ship you a bottom end would probably be cheaper.

your are in the land down under correct?

Yes, you can bore the CA16 out to fit CA18 pistons. The blocks are mostly the same, the CA16 just has a much smaller bore.

You should really be patient and find you a CA18 block if your block isn't serviceable. What's wrong wth your block as asked before? Don't waste the time and money going the other way to only get back to where you want to be, but be @ssed-out of more money and accumulated more headaches and gray hairs.

i'm under but not down under. i'm from the caribbean. nothing is wrong with my original engine. i want to build a second engine with a 84mm bore. unfortunately for me we have very few ca18det on my island. under 10. u find more sr20s. the place is littered with them but i don't wanna use one. i found a ca16 going for cheap and since i don't need the pistons and such jus wanted to know if the block could take the bore. to import an engine will cost me about 1600 usd which is 3200bds.(bds is barbados money) to compare i bout the car for 5000bds. yeah i spents tons more than that on it as it's one of 2 s13 on my island. the 3rd had a rather unfortunate accident. the other one has in a ka24 and the crashed one a sr20. we can't import cars under 5 years so unless someone has a 2005 s13 i'm stuck.

I would email someone like Dee...........

spare blocks go for about $50 USDM on the forums here. the freight might be a bit high, but I cant imagine it would THAT much from Miami and such.

there are plenty of members here in the S/E US, and finding one even on CL isnt impossible these days.

I would pass and if nothing else buy a cheap car and build the one you have already the right way the first time......... thus you wont have to worry abt it.

u'd be surprise the cost of shipping here. especially a block that weighs a few!so no i'm not really interested in shipping a block. the ca16 is right here right now. secondly i would still like to have a spare engine that in the event anything puffs i have back up. thirdly i have to bore the block either way so that is not an issue. thanks for the suggestions though!

The CA16 and CA18 blocks are the same except for the bore. Bore the CA16 out to 84mm and it won't be any different than a CA18 as long as you swap all the CA18 stuff over to that block.
