Ive heard from various people that a 300zx or J30 rear diff will swap into my y33 which has a shorter final drive to increase acceleration. Is this possible? has anyone done it? I just cant stand how slow first gear is Does anyone know how many gears the Cima has in Japan? Ive been wondering if there is a 5 spd at or mt that would work with the y33 to help with acceleration. Im aware of all the custom fabricating to make it manual and the $$$ and time but it would just be sick Do any engines swap too? maybe?

btw my friend's mom's CRV smoked me off the line...it was degrating but i cought up in 2nd gear n then some

Welcome to NICO.

There have been a few threads on this before, and as I recall it's much easier than a rear gear/end swap in a G50.

If a CRV smoked you off the line, there might be something else besides gearing thats wrong. A Mercedes E55 AMG is about the only car I've been smoked by in 2.5 years of ownership.

Without a six speed transmission, any 2 ton car powered by a 245 cu. in. engine will be slow off the line. But on the highway, look out. Lower rearend ratios with stock 4 speed gearing and tire diameter just mean worse economy and more wear in everyday world.

Are you running bigger tires than OEM (sizewise)? If so, you have made those gears even taller. YOur accel is deminished even further with taller tires. Going up to 4.08 will bring some ballance back to stock gear set-up. It can be done very inexpensive.Cheers!
