many people have done it. With what regards the posts you read about a lubricating pump, it was probably me that wrote the article on npora. The thing is, for a 2001 and above, the transfer case is a atx14a, which has 2 oil pumps. One electric and one driveshaft driven. Now in the fsm, it's state that the main pump is driven by the main shaft. In my understanding, I had assumed that the main shaft was the front driveshaft. Now this is why I raised some concerns about the transfer case not being properly lubricated if the hub were set to free....
After this , a nissan tech confirmed that the main shaft is in fact the rear drive shaft. So No more problems....
Like the previous post said, do not use the AUTO setting if your hubs are unlocked. This will cause damages... as for the rest, it is a very good upgrade that will save you fuel and the boots of your cv shaft.
