...of my 89 240sx hatchback?

I did a search & they will fit in the front w/ some home-made speaker adaptor plates...

<side note> do u have a paper template for these, so I don't have to rip open my door panel until the time of install?

I got very limited funds and saw Profile 6.5" 2-way speakers on clearance @ Circuit City for $12.99 a set... so now's the time for me to replace my original, blown out 4x6's...

not building any bling bling system to attract car theives.... just regular upgrade to make is sound better than OEM... heck, car was broken into 2x already in the past 3 years...

autolock, club, club shield, fuel cutoff, ignition cutoff, aftermarket alarm sys w/ horn disabled <cause in nyc, they don't give a f when your car is crying, "RAPE"> has saved my car from being driven off to chop-shop land. :ylsuper

6.5" speakers in a 4x6 hole is going to require some custom work, yes.

i don't think you'll be able to fit anything bigger back there. It was a ***** just disconnecting my 4x6s so they wouldn't run off my HU. The space is just so tight. I made some custom mounts for 6.5s in the back seat underneath the plastic interior panels and just left the panels off. You could probably cut a hole in them, but i doubt the speakers would be flush.

You can get 5" speakers back there without cutting - I just did this to my '93 on Wednesday. If you want to go to 6" then you definitely will be cutting metal...

As far as the front speakers go, I made a set of adaptors out of 3/8" aluminum sheet, and let me tell you, it is SWEET. No wood here to worry about rotting/warping.

If someone can tell me how to get an image larger than 300x300 to post then I'll attach my template (made from a digital pic of the original speaker housing). I've got cutouts for 6.5" speakers and the plate mounting holes on the drawing. Note that I do not have speaker mounting punchouts as each speaker/mfgr will be different and it should be obvious to you where to drill :-)
