the silvia drive axles, at least for the s14, are supposed to be a bit stronger, but i heard that the stock 240 rear end can handle about 500 hp fine.migsk8 wrote:i plan on doing an ls1 swap and my goal HP is 450. i keep hearing that the car wont last very long with that much torque when i launch. anybody have this much power and have seen this happen? or even hear about this happening?
please inform me
is it does happen, what can i do to prevent it?
they can have that much torque, but not when launching, and thats when it could twist your frame, not rolling half way down the track. lets put it this way. my friends ls1 porche has 380 hp, and 380 torque. it gets 350 torque at 2000 RPMS! you should see the dyno sheet, its nuts!EazyBreazy wrote:hahahahahaha there's 240s with over that out there that havent had any problems, Ivan's ka powered 240 had like 600 ish from what i remember and ran 9's in the quarter. your problem isnt gonna be the horsepower or torque its gonna be finding traction to use all that horsepower and torque
Whats wrong with you? You come here and ask a question and then argue when you get given the correct answer.migsk8 wrote:

thats why i asked if the 240 can handle that, thats ALOT of torque when launching
