I am contemplating purchasing HRE rims for my M. I have seen other Ms w/ 20" wheels, but HRE only makes custom rims for specific infiniti fitments. I was wondering if anyone else has HREs for his/her M and waht was the maximum allowed fitment?

Do you have a link or pictures? I have no knowledge of HRE at all.

One thing to watch out for (in the new M) is the offset. It is pretty high (47mm to 50mm) and needs to be done right to look good on the car and/or not contact suspension components or fenders.

In terms of wheels in general, just make sure that you get very strong wheels. The cars are heavy and it would be way too easy to get bent rims - particularly on low aspect ratio tires (which is what you would need for 20" rims).

Many rim manufacturers simply do not have strong light-weight wheels - not saying that HRE is in this camp, since I do not know them, just making a general observation.

HRE, Foose,MHT,Lexani,Vellano etc.. you only need to be concerned about two thing, and that is 5x114.3 and the offset. My 20's are stagged at 20x8.5 and 20x9.5 with a 34mm offset in the front and a 40mm in the rear.

Am i correct?

Um ... no, not quite. His is a 2007 M45 Sport. So the offset needs to be near 47 to 50mm to work out well, I would think! With wide rims in the rear, like a 9.5" (which I have no idea if it will work!), the needed offset would be probably about 45mm for a good fit.

I suggest working with a good local tire/wheel dealer to get fitment advice. Can also try calling Tire Rack!
