I have been reading as many articles as I find on Performance Camshafts, but until now I can't find anything to help me much.....1) I read that you can use the exhaust camshaft to replace intake for some horsepower gain. Is this true, what about intake, will it work with turbo?2) Besides Jim Wolf Tech, who else makes performance cams. I need a definite answer if possible with some experienced users.I need this info ASAP as my head is already at the machineshop along with KA24DE.COM'S Springs and Retainers set. Thank you

I know that pdm makes cams, as well as crower(I think) pdm makes NA and turbo grind cams, but that about it that I know of

Lots of people make cams but NO ONE has dyno graphs proving any real gains in performance besides the Crowers. Unfortunately the Crowers are unavailable because they have no blanks. I have had them ordered and paid for since Ivan first dynoed them. My built motor is done and running and I had my springs/retainers put in, now I just wait for the cams, they are a simple install so regardless of if it's at the machine shop it's not a real biggie. Just put your stock cams in for now.

I'd go with PDM racing (colt cams)...

I've had mine in for well over two years, and when the engine was naturally aspirated, the cams did a VERY good job of letting the engine breathe all over the rev range, especially the upper rev-range. I detected no loss of torque. I was very pleased with them.

PDM racing makes turbo cams, I'm running their n/a cams (see other thread), because when I bought them, they didn't make turbo cams, and my engine wasn't turbocharged...mine have identical specs as the turbo cams (just about) except for 10 degrees more duration on the exhaust cam...so just go with the dedicated turbo cam they make.

I'm attesting to their quality...PDM makes top-notch stuff. The owner, Don Nimi, has been racing Nissans for years and does not sell crap, ever. Easily one of the best shops I've dealt with.

And PDM DOES have dynos for their cams...their n/a cams produced 11 whp, 7 tq.

I have dealt with PDM for years, ever since I first got my 240. However, they do NOT have dyno graphs for there turbo cams, so as to the benefit they add.... If there N/A cams produced 11 whp and cost nearly 600 dollars wheras the Crower V3's produced 35+whp (mustang dyno numbers) and 49 whp at redline and the Crower's cost 400 bucks then I would say the better buy is the Crower's. I guess it's all a matter of what you want to do. I would never buy a product that I didn't know about. I am not saying the PDM's won't make power but there is nothing proving they are worth the extra 200 bucks. This whole argument is based off of the N/A dyno vs Ivan's turbo dyno, since we have no PDM turbo cam dyno sheet.

better need a 3way job and some valve springs if those numbers are right... 35-50 *wheel* hp gain from cams alone?

The Crower V3s require a spring and retainer change.

PDM's gains were NA...Crowers were FI. Also makes a large difference.

I believe PDM cams are drop in, right? There is your $200 extra. Plus from what I just read you can't get Crower cams because they don't have blanks... WTF?

I'm still putting my money on PDM... when I get the money that is

I know you need springs and retainers, what I meant is I though you needed to notch the spring buckets or something heinous like that

Last I remember, the PDM cams were regrinds. They require that you measure clearances and they will send you the correct shims with the cams.
