well in the process of changing my head gasket and i cant get the cams off. ive removed the bolts, sprockets, and brackets but i cant get them off. any specific way. fsm just says remove, doesnt give specifics. also says not to turn them while the timing chain is off, so im afraid to do that as well. anyone know how ?

yes cam towers are off but i cant get them off. rather i do not know. is there a specific method i.e. push, pull, turn, lift ? FSM says not to rotate because valves will hit pistons so i dare not try that. also the back of the intake cam shifts upward a bit but not completely so i dont know whether or not i should pull up on it. pretty much im wondering how to get the cam out itself, the method of extraction. and if it could be possibly stuck.

Tap on one end lightly with a rubber hammer, then the other end. My last Sr cams were the same way, wouldn't just lift out.

well i got them off, however i think i might have messed the timing up. i have the cam lobes practicallly 98% correct, but on the crank where i had orignally set it to TDC, it's not at that setting anymore. how would i go about adjusting it ?

just rotate it back to tdc(dont make more than one rotation, go the short way) and itll be fine. and be sure to put the cams the way the came out. mine were hard to get out too. had to pull like ***** for one, but other was easy.
