Wuts up Sr20 experts. just wanted to know if anyone one is running a 272 lift intake and exhaust cam on their sr20det red top with no problems or what other mods to you HAVE to do to run those. Another question, whats the biggest cam you can run with just changing the valve springs and retainers? Thanks for your help you guys!!

You dont upgrade your valvesprings and retainers based on the duration of the cam (256, 264, 272) you do it based on the lift of the camshaft (10mm to 12.5mm) The lift is how high the camshaft lifts up. Anything over a 10.5mm lift i'd upgrade the valvesprings. With 272 cams your going to want a pretty big turbo. The smallest turbo that i'd probably run with those cams would be a gt3076r. If you are going with anything smaller than that go with 264 cams. unless you are on a t25 and some t28's ( factory non rebuilt or ported t28's) then go with 256's. and you'll have a funky idle even with a tune probably..but nothing that will stop you from wanting to drive..its just a little "loapy"

The cams have to mach ur setup, and for 272 cams I'd run nothing lower then an S15 turbo and by that I mean not even the s15 turbo, anything above, so like a gt2871r but still I would not use 272 cams on that setup personally.

eeeehhhh IMO i still would run 264's on a .86 hotside..the spool up is not that much of a difference compared to the .64 actually probably nomore than 500rpm difference. 264's on any 2871r ftw IMO...and there would also be no point in having a 2871r with a built block
