I just got my CA18 in a few days ago and had a look under one of the valve covers, one of my camshaft lobes has this copper colored stripe going straight down the middle it still feels smooth, but is there anything I should be worried about with this? is it possible oil starvation?

It is oil coking, aka burnt oil. It is coming from the bucket lifter directly underneath that cam lobe. I would guess that the oil in the motor wasn't changed regularly enough, or maybe they didn't properly cool the motor down, or the motor ran too hot. It could be any number of things. Use some stuff called Quick Clean (Maybe Kwik Clean). It from a company called BG. It's a really good engine flush. Follow the directions carefully and DON'T run the motor any longer than it says.

sorry was a little vague there, the engines not IN the car yet but hopefully next week sometime... Is there anything I should do/check out before I put it in the car, or anything I should be worried about? I've never heard of that stuff before but is it the same as any other kerosene style flush? Everything else looks pretty good on it, but that stripe has me curious though about it's history.

Serously though, pics would help me better tell you whats going on. Preferably of the head with the valve covers off and of the bottom end with the oil pan off.
