Hello All,
I looked for the "beating dead horse" smilie but it wasn't there. Anyway, two years ago my 2002 pathfinder was rough starting and stalling. I pulled the code. It said camshaft sensor. I took it to Nissan and they did a whole bunch of other work. The problem persisted and eventually after a great deal of prodding they changed the camshaft sensor. The problem resolved. I should have done it myself in the first place. Lesson learned.
Now two years later same issue. I have been researching and apparently they should have done both camshafts and the crankshaft sensor at the same time. I confirmed this by calling Nissan. I then asked why they didn't do that two years ago and the guy said "I don't know. I didn't work here then." Awesome.
So now I'd like to replace both camshaft and the crankshaft sensor. I know where the driver's side one is on the front of the engine but am not sure about where the passenger side one is. I also don't know where the crank shaft sensor is.
I also want to confirm that I should order/replace two camshaft sensors (which are the same from what I have read) and one crankshaft sensor.
Lastly, can I order an aftermarket part like the Beck Arnley Crankshaft Position Sensor Part Number: 180-0261 at Canada Parts on line or do I have to buy the Nissan part?
Thank you very much for your help with this. Hopefully this can be the last cam/crankshaft sensor thread lol
