Ok...I'm almost certain of upgrading the engine internals by changing out the cams....settling on JWT cams....got quote on the parts, now just need quote on install from a good mechanic/shop....parts will be under 1300... I have some concerns...since I have the uprev tune, and after cams install, will I need to retune the car before driving it? Or can I get by with getting the tune shortly after....really trying to avoid towing the car from one shop to the next....any insite is appreciated.....I'm hoping to get this mod done by end of the year....

If you are already tuned the car is running on a different profile, and the JWT cams specifically say stuff about probably needing a tune so the engine doesnt stall on you:

** NOTE: THIS CAM UPGRADE MAY REQUIRE THE IDLE RPM BE SET TO 850 RPM TO PREVENT POSSIBLE STALLING AT IDLE

So I wouldnt drive it without a tune, I would get it tuned as soon as the cams are installed. Why not have your UpRev place do the install? You obviously trust them enough to screw with your engine already :p Are you buying the S1's, S2's or the C2's? My understanding is the C2's are designed more for turbo charged engines though. Are you planning on getting the valve spring upgrade kit to go with the cams as well?
One more thing, $1300 sounds high... When I was looking into these I thought they were closer to $1000. And I found some used one time for $400 but didnt have the money at the time.

I'm choosing the S2's....was told the stock valve springs will work well with the cams...as long as I avoid driving past the rev limiter....:) I haven't called my shop yet....my plan was to drive to san Diego and pick up the parts and have it installed down there and come back to get tuned....looks like now i will just get the parts and have them installed at my tune shop or somewhere close by....the cost was just over 1200. But compared to other places it was a good price....still shopping.

ok, did more research...the quote that I got from Jim Wolf Tech was 'if I were to buy directly' from them -- I will get the price lower when I go thru a distributor/tuner shop---looking just about 1000 for parts... but so far, the labor prices have been REALLY high. I have a few more shops to contact so I can get an average rate...

A buddy of mine said he will help tow my car with his big diesel truck and trailer, so I'm covered there...

...to be con't
