Ok, i havnt really seen enough information in the ca forum to get this down yet. I have been looking at cams for a while and i have even found a place that sells cams for the ca18de and the ca18et. First, will those fit in the det. Next would 235 duration and .5 lift be suitable for low to mid range torque? My reasoning is, that if i can get low end torque to make up for the turbo lag, i could get up to full boost with some power, and where longer duration cams would have more power high up, the turbo will be there to make up for it. And this still has to be streetable and i want it to somewhat idle :). Any info on cam choice, places to get them, and the crossover on it would be really helpful.

Nab, get the motor in your car and get it to run right 1st to see what you're missing. Once you get the thing in your car and start cranking on it, only then will you be able to determine if you need camshafts or not. You can pump out 300whp on the stock DET with an upgraded fuel system, turbo and FMIC. Once you hit that magic 300whp and you want more, then you start chasing solid lifters and big cams. But those items on a streetable CA18 is not the best combintaion, but it all depends on what type of turbo you use.

and i also think that the stock cams are 248* duration.

and rememerb that yes the turbo will make up allot of the top end, but turbo setups need good cams to allow the engine to breath better at high rpms, where the stock cams usually max out their capabilities.

ok some stuff you dont really need if you are shooting for lets say 400rwhp the port and polish only will do wonders ca valve train is pretty capable of some power. if it were me i wound invest in a good standalone cpu like haltech run some big injectors and good balanced turbo and you`d be surprised at what that little motor will do. i would suggest put it in your car in stock trim then start modding once it runs right when you put everything all at one diagnosis is gonna be a hassle this is from experience. just my 2 cents

well is port and polished, valve seating, and valve springs a bad idea... because thats a make it safe befor i run it kind of thing. and the front mount is to keep the turbo cool, i need it. The clutch will definatly get replaced because who knows how bad the old clutch is. Im not really doing any mods...

none of that could hurt, i dont see any of those as a bad idea.

and the front mount is to keep the intake temp down, it wont effect how hot the turbo itself is, that all depends on your right foot.

WELL HALTECH WILL RUNN YOU ABOUT 1400 WITHOUT INSTALLATION AND 500BUCKS TO INSTALL IF YOU CANT DO IT YOURSELF BUT I HAVE HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT EMANAGE. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH IT INSTALLED IN AN FD (RX7).

yeah, but i am looking at 400-500 for the full system. Is it worth it to put in another 500-600 to get a standalone? Remember this is a daily driver and it wont see that much track time, but i do want it tuned very very well. I want to get a full emanage system with timing and injector harness as well as the e-0 because i have heard a lot of good things about it. Sound like a good idea?

http://www.chiptorque.com.au makes em.

http://www.vishnutuning.com/xede_wrx.htm if you want to see what Shiv Pathak thinks about them and also lists some of its features. Much of that is comparison to the unichip, but you'll get the idea.

Yeah, I see $782 as well.:rolleyes

The Xede is $595.00 AUD...that's about $450 usd. It also has twice the tuning resolution (256 vs 128) and it's plug 'n play!
