I need to find out what is a good cam set up, see me and my roommate are building his car as we speak, actually its kind of a shop car, anyways here we go, we are trying to select the best cam to put in it, our hp goals are around 400-450whp we are going to do everything to the engine we can. At the same time we want this to be a daily driven car. So with that said we want cams that will not idle bad, but at the same time give us our moneys worth. So what company and what profile do you guys think will work best?

i have the JWT S4 cams and the butt dyno says about a 30-40hp increase on a ~330hp motor (haven't gotten it tuned yet). The idle was nice and cammy, but now that i've got my timing set a little bit better, it idles close to stock, which i think is bad, it sounded MEAN before with that idle!

I dunno, I think they're just better cams, at least that's what the guy that sold them to me said :) (thanks Yury!)

Its true. jwt dynoed the prototypes many many many hours. they start with a cylinder billet, the same billet as nissan, that make from scratch. the quality is great. when it comes to cams, i think good ol' 'merican companies have an edge. btw, jwt has like 8 different selections for our motor on cams. the c2, c3 are some big cams thoguht. not great for a street car i'm sure though.shaun

booooooooooo

Im not going to argue about JWT and their services because its all been covered before...

Ive never seen an HKS cam break, or heard any negative experices...I have seen JWT cam break, and have heard negative experiences.

its a good 'drop in and go' cam...if thats what your looking for

I've heard a few hundred positive testimonials from people on SR20DEFORUM about S series JWT cams, never heard of one breaking. Haven't heard much about HKS cams though? i would like to see back to back dynos of S4's and HKS 264'sBut then again, most FWD DET owners love JWT ecus (I'm currently using one), and a lot of RWD DET owners shun them:confused:

its true. rwd as a whole don't like jwt as much. but i'm going to run a jwt ecu with my drag car to start out. 96lbs injectors and a ford lightening maf. i don't know how this is going to work, but we work with jwt a lot and i'm willing to give it a shot. there was a 9 or 10 sec sentra on a jwt ecu. that has swayed a lot of fwd owners to like them.shaun

I have a '95 se-r with jwt s3 cams. I recently got a '97 240, waiting to get the sr swap done later this month (woohoo!!) Will jwt s3 cams, or the jwt s2 cams work in the s14 sr20det motor?

I dont think they would in an S14 because of the VTC. Though I could be wrong.
