cams for a 302 hydraulic.. how much gain?

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

there's gonna be some kind of change.

depends on the numbers on the cam as to how much it's gonna change.

Its probably not worth it as far as rpms go. I spoke to my dad about it and he said 302's never were big breathers and you should invest in a set of heads or the basic vortec setup. Here's a quick example. A K&N air filter, demon 575 carb, weiand stealth intake, holley fuel pump, comp cams 1.6:1 magnum rockers, lunati camshaft, afr 165 competition package heads, comp lifters and manley pushrods should land you 310whp@6500 and 321lb-ft. @3800rpm. The tq. fell to 250@6500 and the hp. fell to 275@7000.

there are to many things to spend.. i only want to spend in a cam shaft , but i dont know if i buy it before that. its to sad.. in the web page, said that a 278 degree is good for my engine and add a maximum of 25 hp in a stock engine. but maybe its like the air filter in ebay.. 30hp gain .. !!! to sad to hear this!!

That's why most ford guys either build the hell out of their 302, or supercharge them. IF you look in a mustang magazine, 95% of the cars featured with a 302 are supercharged. I read about a head and cam package that allowed you to rev to like 7500rpms IIRC. I don't know if you ever heard an acura rsx or any b-series honda sing at 8000rpms or not, but at that rpm a 302 may start to soung real ferrari like. Start looking around on some mustang forums. I think they will really take interest and be helpful once in they see what you have in a 240

Think of the engine as a big vacuum, it just sucks air in and pushes it out. A new cam is a bad idea without headers and atleast a cheap cat-back. Magazines and manufactures always say "up to" however much gain...that means you could actually lose power and they are still not lying to you.

The easier the motor can get air in and out in NA form the better.

As a general rule of thumb, most basic performance upgrades start with the intake, then the exhaust and then people usually go with a head/cam combo. Somtimes the intake manifold is also done with the aformentioed head/cam combo as well. Since there are several companies that will sell you a matched set. Just my .02

Damn...lol. I totally didn't take that into consideration. If the stock headers fit, perhaps a pair of block huggers will fit as well. Try THESE, I know Summit is cool, they may let you send them back if they don't fit. Just call there Tech Departmanet and explain the scenerio.
